Daily update from the Army Corp of Engineers for 7/22/19. Weeks Marine finished dredge/beachfill operations for the Point Pleasant re-pump last night (Sunday, 7/21/19) at around 8:00 PM: the contract's dredge/beachfill portion is complete.

  • Demobilization operations on beach will occur after-hours between 7:00 pm and 1:00 am The beach will be kept groomed for beachgoers daily.
  • All equipment and material will be demobilized out of contractor vehicle access at North Street in Bay Head. (It'll be staged and corralled against the dune at North Street after-hours and loaded onto trucks from there throughout the day.)

Autumn is the deer breeding season, or ‘rut’. The rut brings a peak in deer movement and we experience more deer on New Jersey roads, leading to a number of deer-vehicle collisions. Municipal vehicles are not immune from this hazard and in some cases, their operations can increase the likelihood, such as the 24 / 7 / 365 operations of police, fire and EMS agencies. Click the link above to find more information regarding best practices for avoiding deer-vehicle collisions.
Status of Electricity COOP
If you were participating in the Borough endorsed Electricity Coop, you recently received a letter stating that the contract would expire this month. The Coop was unable to obtain an energy rate at the August auction that would allow them to achieve the minimum of 5% savings over the J.C.P.& L rate for the coming winter months. As promised, you will automatically revert to J.C.P.& L for the energy portion of your bill. You do not have to do anything and there will be no interruption of your electric service. The Coop was able to get rates with savings beginning in March of 2019. You should get notices in January or March asking if you would like to opt out of the program. If you do nothing you will automatically be re-enrolled in the program.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection are hosting public meetings regarding the New Jersey Back Bays Flood Risk Management study on Sept. 12, 2018 in Ventnor City, N.J. and on Sept 13 in Toms River Township, N.J.
If you wish to report a concern to a municipal official, you can now do so electronically using the Borough’s website. Just click on the Report a Concern link located in the upper right corner of the Home page, follow the step by step instructions, and your concern will be electronically forwarded to the appropriate municipal official.
Residents of Bay Head are eligible for a reduced electricity rate through our Community Energy Aggregation program. If you are a new resident or have previously opted out, you can still join and receive the benefit of the lower rate. Click on the tab above to learn more.
