BOROUGH INFORMATION
It has come to the attention of the Borough that various blogs and newsletters are being distributed to constituents which may purport to be an official publication of the municipality. PLEASE NOTE that the ONLY official internet communications of the Borough of Bay Head are those made through this website. Moreover, the only official and Council-approved minutes from all Council Meetings are those posted to this website and are available the month after the meeting was held.
Important Natural Gas Information
As you know, many homeowners in your municipality are trying to sort out their rebuilding and house-raising requirements, including what they need to do with their natural gas service lines. To assist our customers, we have posted the following new page on our web site that contains important information about service turn-offs and retirements due to Sandy damage:
http://www.njng.com/safety/hurricane-sandy-updates/post-sandy-home.asp
New Jersey Natural Gas would like to enlist your assistance in sharing this resource with your affected homeowners. If possible, could you please post it in the appropriate place on your municipal web site and provide it to each appropriate permit applicant? We would welcome any additional ways you think it would be beneficial to share this information, and if we can be helpful in this regard, please do not hesitate to let me know.
Mold Guidelines
The New Jersey Department of Health today released Mold Guidelines for New Jersey Residents pamphlet created to provide direction to residents on addressing mold in homes in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy. The guidelines were developed to better inform homeowners on how to ensure their homes are cleaned and remediated properly to avoid mold problems now and in the future. They were developed with feedback from state and federal partners as well as environmental health advocacy organizations
Molds can cause staining of walls and ceilings and can affect building components causing property damage. Exposure to mold can cause nasal and throat irritation, coughing or wheezing, eye irritation, or, in some cases, skin irritation. The pamphlet addresses a number of topics including mold-related health concerns, how to inspect for mold and tools and techniques for clean-up. If you would like a copy of the pamphlet, please call 609-826-4950. In addition, residents can also call 609-826-4950 to speak with the Department's Environmental and Occupation Health Assessment Program staff about mold removal questions.
