Body Cameras

Transparency in Law Enforcement and organizational accountability are crucial components in today’s policing environment.  Being transparent in our actions, decisions, and communications will serve to promote trust between police and the communities they serve.

It is the Policy of the Bay Head Police Department to issue body worn cameras (BWC) to its Officers to assist personnel in the performance of their duties by providing an accurate and unbiased recorded account of an incident and to maintain the necessary safeguards that will ensure the non-discriminating use as well as the proper preservation of evidence that may be obtained through the use of this technology.

All personnel shall use this equipment consistent with manufacturer’s guidelines, this policy and in accordance with Directives and Guidelines issued by the Ocean County Prosecutors Office and the Office of the New Jersey Attorney General.

The attached pictures depict the actual body worn cameras being worn by our Officers and how they are being worn.  All Police encounters with citizens are documented and recorded with this device.
